INTRODUCTION
OPTIHIST AZ EYE DROPS contains Azelastine which belongs to the group of medicines called Antihistamines. It is used to treat and prevent signs and symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis (seasonal and perennial).
Allergic conjunctivitis is an eye inflammation caused due to exposure of eye(s) towards various allergens such as pollens, dusts, or molds etc. It can occur seasonally or year-round (perennial) and often characterized by eye redness, itching or irritation with excessive tear production.
OPTIHIST AZ EYE DROPS is suitable for use both in adults and in adolescents (aged 12 years or above). However, children aged 4 years or above can also use OPTIHIST AZ EYE DROPS for the treatment of seasonal allergic conjunctivitis.
OPTIHIST AZ EYE DROPS is for ophthalmic use only. Wash your hands before and after application. Do not touch the tip of the container with your eyes, eyelids or areas around your eyes or fingers, to avoid contamination. If you wear soft contact lenses, make sure to remove them before using OPTIHIST AZ EYE DROPS and wait for at least 10 minutes before reinsertion.
Before using OPTIHIST AZ EYE DROPS inform your doctor if you have any infection in the eye. You must also inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding as precaution. Contact your doctor if your eye condition worsens or does not improve after 6 weeks of use.
The most common side effect of using OPTIHIST AZ EYE DROPS is mild eye irritation. This side effect usually resolves on its own after few minutes of application. However, if it bothers you, consult your doctor for advice.

HOW OPTIHIST AZ EYE DROPS WORKS
OPTIHIST AZ EYE DROPS is an anti-allergic medication. When applied topically in the eyes, it blocks the release of certain chemical messengers in the eyes (such as histamines) that cause eye inflammation and swelling. As a result, it prevents the onset of allergic reactions in the eye and provides relief from unpleasant eye symptoms (such as eye itching, irritation, redness or inflammation).
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Apply OPTIHIST AZ EYE DROPS as advised by your doctor. It is for ophthalmic use only. Wash your hands before and after application.
Tilt your head slightly backwards and place the tip of the container close to your eyes. Gently pull your lower eyelid and instill few drops of this medicine as directed by your physician. Close your eyes and gently press the inner corner of your eye for 2 minutes. Repeat the same in the other eye if required.
Do not touch the tip of the container with your eyes, eyelids or areas around your eyes or fingers, to avoid contamination.
If you wear soft contact lenses, make sure to remove them before using OPTIHIST AZ EYE DROPS and wait for at least 10 minutes before reinsertion.
