INTRODUCTION

LIVOGEN Z contains Ferrous fumarate, Folic acid and Zinc sulphate monohydrate. It is a nutritional supplement. Iron, zinc and folic acid helps to replenish iron stores and increase red blood cell levels in the body and fight the symptoms of anaemia such as fatigue, paleness, weakness, inability to concentrate and dizziness.

Iron transports oxygen throughout the body and maintains red blood cells, thus making an individual feel energetic and prevents anaemia. Iron is an essential element for red blood cells production. About 70 percent of your body’s iron is found in the red blood cells of your blood called hemoglobin and in muscle cells called myoglobin. A deficiency in iron limits oxygen delivery to cells, resulting in fatigue, poor work performance and decreased immunity. Iron deficiency is the most common nutrient deficiency worldwide. It affects people of all ages, with children, pregnant or menstruating women and dialysis patients being among the most vulnerable.

Folic acid is essential to numerous bodily functions ranging from nucleotide biosynthesis to the remethylation of homocysteine. It is especially important during periods of rapid cell division and growth. Both children and adults require folic acid to produce healthy red blood cells and prevent anaemia. Zinc is vital for growth and development (especially bones and tissues). Do not take this medication for more than 6 months without checking with your doctor.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Always take this medicine as directed by your physician. For adults one captab twice daily or as directed by physician. It can be taken after meals or as prescribed by a physician. Swallow the medicine as a whole with a plenty of water and do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose for you depending upon your conditions.

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Loss of appetite:

Eat when you are hungry. Eat smaller meals more often than usual. Snack only when you’re hungry. Eat a nutritious snack which is rich in calories and protein, such as dried fruit and nuts.

Nausea and vomiting:

Try to take this medicine with or just after a meal or a snack. Stick to simple meals.

Constipation:

Eat fiber rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables and cereals and drink plenty of water. Exercise regularly.

Diarrhoea:

Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juices to keep yourself hydrated. Avoid taking any medicine on your own for treating diarrheoa. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

LIVOGEN Z should be used with caution in patients suffering from liver function impairment or active liver diseases. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

ALLERGY

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to ferrous fumarate, folic acid or zinc sulphate monohydrate.

OTHERS
Do not take this medicine, if you have active peptic ulcers, repeated blood transfusion, regional enteritis, and intestinal ulcers, allergic reactions such as wheezing, chest tightness, fever, itching, swelling of face, lips, tongue or throat, rash.
Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have diabetes, hypertension,folic acid-dependent tumor.

Use in pediatrics:

There is no proper information regarding the use of this medicine in children and adolescents. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
