INTRODUCTION

D VENIZ 50MG contain desvenlafaxine which belongs to a group of medicine called SNRIs (serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors). It is used to treat depression. This medicine works by increasing the levels of chemical messengers such as serotonin and noradrenaline in the brain that help maintain mental balance.

Always take D VENIZ 50MG exactly as your doctor has told you. This medicine must be taken with or without food. It should be swallowed whole with water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. This medicine is strictly not recommended for use in children and adolescents. Before taking this medicine tell your doctor if you have ever had kidney disease, heart disease, liver problems. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before taking this medicine. The most common side effects are nausea, vomiting, sweating, dizziness, insomnia, constipation, diarrhoea, loss of appetite, anxiety, decreased sex drive, delayed orgasm, and ejaculation.

HOW D VENIZ 50MG WORKS

D VENIZ 50MG works by increasing the levels of chemical messengers such as serotonin and noradrenaline, natural substances in the brain that help maintain mental balance.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Always take D VENIZ 50MG exactly as your doctor has told you. It must be taken with or without food. Try to take this medicine at the same time each day. It should be swallowed whole with water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.

SIDE EFFECTS OF D VENIZ 50MG
SERIOUS
Serious mental illnesses and suicidal thoughts
Serotonin syndrome or neuroleptic malignant syndrome
Restlessness
Hallucinations
Increase in blood pressure
Loss of coordination or coma
Fast heartbeat
Increased body temperature
Muscle stiffness
New or worsened high blood pressure (hypertension)
Abnormal bleeding or bruising
Glaucoma
Increased cholesterol and triglyceride level in blood
Abnormal dreams and confusion
Seizures (convulsions)
Allergic reactions such as swelling beneath the skin (e.g.throat, face, hands)
COMMON
Nausea, vomiting, headache
Dry mouth
Sweating
Dizziness, insomnia or sleepiness
Constipation, diarrhoea
Loss of appetite
Tiredness, anxiety, tremor
Dilated pupils
Decreased sex drive
Delayed orgasm and ejaculation
Feeling that your surroundings are spinning or moving
HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Nausea and vomiting:

Try taking this medicine with, or just after, a meal or snack and stick to simple meals and do not eat rich or spicy food.

Headache:

Apply hot or cold-water bag on your head. Take rest in a quiet and dark room. Drink tea or coffee.

Dry mouth:

Chew sugar-free gum or suck on sugar-free hard candies. Control your caffeine intake. Do not use mouthwashes. Sip water regularly.

Dizziness:

Get up and move around to feel awake, take small naps to edge off the sleepiness. Give your eyes a break to avoid fatigue and eat a healthy food to boost energy.  

Constipation: 

Eat fibre rich foods such as fresh fruit, vegetables and cereals, and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly.

Diarrhoea:

Drink lot of fluids such as water or squash, to avoid dehydration. Do not take any other medicines without talking to a doctor.

Sleepiness:

Get up and move around to feel awake. Take a nap to take the edge off the sleepiness. Give your eyes a break to avoid weakness.

WARNING & PRECAUTIONS
PREGNANCY

D VENIZ 50MG should be used with caution in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

BREASTFEEDING

D VENIZ 50MG should be used with caution in breast-feeding women. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

Do not drive a car or operate machinery until you know how D VENIZ 50MG affects you.

ALCOHOL

Consumption of alcohol is not recommended during treatment with D VENIZ 50MG.

KIDNEY

D VENIZ 50MG should be used with caution in patients suffering from active kidney diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.

LIVER

D VENIZ 50MG should be used with caution in patients suffering from liver function impairment or active liver diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.

ALLERGY

Do not take D VENIZ 50MG if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to desvenlafaxine or any other ingredients in this medicine.

HEART DISEASE

D VENIZ 50MG should be used with caution in patients suffering from active heart diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.

OTHERS

Tell your doctor if you have

High blood pressure
High cholesterol or high triglycerides
A history of a stroke
Or had depression, suicidal thoughts or behavior
Glaucoma
Or had bleeding problems
Or had seizures or convulsions
Mania or bipolar disorder
Low sodium levels in your blood
INTERACTIONS

Talk to your doctor if you are taking,

Triptans (used to treat migraine headaches)
Tricyclics, lithium, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRIs), serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRIs), antipsychotic drugs, or other dopamine antagonists, such as metoclopramide (used to treat mood, anxiety, psychotic, or thought disorders)
Silbutramine
Tramadol
St. John’s Wort
MAOIs (including linezolid, an antibiotic)
Tryptophan supplements
Other medicines containing venlafaxine
