INTRODUCTION

CLOPITON 75MG contains Clopidogrel which belongs to aroup of medicines called antiplatelet which prevents the clumping and reduces the formation of blood clots (thrombosis). Platelets are very small structures in the blood which clump together during blood clotting. This medicine is used to prevent blood clots in conditions such as atherosclerosis, where the arteries are hardened, unstable angina or heart attack and irregular heartbeat.

It works by preventing platelets from clumping together and forming clots. It binds irreversibly to the P2Y12 class of adenosine diphosphate (ADP) receptors on platelets and inhibits their clumping. This prevents the formation of blood clots and thus lowers the risk of heart attack or stroke. Before taking this medicine inform your doctor if you have liver, kidney or heart problems, are pregnant or breastfeeding.

CLOPITON 75MG is not suitable for use in children. Your doctor willive the correct dose depends on your age, body weight and health condition. The most common side effects is bleeding. Do not take if you had bleeding disorder or have stomach ulcer or bleeding within the brain.

USES OF CLOPITON 75MG
Prevent blood clots in conditions such as atherosclerosis, unstable angina or myocardial infarction (heart attack) and atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat)
HOW CLOPITON 75MG WORKS

Clopidogrel works by preventing platelets from clumping together and forming clots and lowers heart attack or stroke.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Always take this CLOPITON 75MG as instructed by your doctor. Swallow as a whole and do not crush or chew. Do not exceed the recommended dose. Your doctor willive the right dose depends on your condition. It may be taken with or without food.

SIDE EFFECTS OF CLOPITON 75MG
SERIOUS
Fever, infection or extreme tiredness
Yellowing of the skin or the eyes (jaundice)
Bleeding appears under the skin as red pinpoint dots and confusion
Swelling in the mouth
Rashes, itching, blisters of the skin
COMMON
Bleeding (stomach, bowels, haematoma, nose bleed, urine, eye, inside the head, lungs and joints)
RARE
Vertigo
Enlarged breasts in males

BREASTFEEDING

CLOPITON 75MG is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

CLOPITON 75MG is unlikely to affect your ability to drive or to use machines.

KIDNEY

CLOPITON 75MG should be used with caution in patients with active kidney diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.

LIVER

CLOPITON 75MG is not recommended in patients with active liver diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.

ALLERGY

Do not take if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to clopidogrel.

HEART DISEASE

CLOPITON 75MG should be used with caution if you had heart attack, irregular heart beat or any other heart diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.

OTHERS

Inform your doctor before taking this medicine, if you have or had,

Stomach ulcer or bleeding within the brain
Bleeding inside any tissues, organs or joints of your body
Recent injury or surgery
Clot in an artery of brain
INTERACTIONS

Tell your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription or the following,

Heparin, ticlopidine and oral anticoagulants (used to reduce blood clotting)
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicine (treat painful and inflammatory conditions of muscle or joints)
Fluoxetine, moclobemide and fluvoxamine (treat depression)
Omeprazole, esomeprazole (treat upset stomach)
Fluconazole, voriconazole (treat fungal infections)
Efavirenz (treats HIV infections)
Carbamazepine (treats epilepsy)
Repaglinide (used to treat diabetes)
Paclitaxel (used to treat cancer)
