INTRODUCTION
AMBROQUTE DROPS contains Ambroxol, which belongs to the group of medicines called Secretolytic agents. It is used to treat acute respiratory diseases such as acute or recurrent bronchitis, laryngitis, tracheitis, and chronic respiratory diseases (such as chronic bronchitis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease).
AMBROQUTE DROPS is not recommended for use if you are allergic to ambroxol hydrochloride. Before taking AMBROQUTE DROPS, inform your doctor if you have chronic cough, peptic/duodenal ulcers, hereditary fructose intolerance (inability of the body to break down fructose), lung problems (such as asthma), and/or kidney & liver problems.
AMBROQUTE DROPS is not recommended for use in pregnant women (especially during the first three months of pregnancy) and is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. It should be used with caution in children and adolescents (below 18 years). Consult your doctor before taking the medicine. The most common side effects of taking AMBROQUTE DROPS are taste disturbance, numbness in the throat, nausea, and/or numbness in the mouth & tongue. Consult and inform your doctor if any of these symptoms worsen.

HOW AMBROQUTE DROPS WORKS
AMBROQUTE DROPS works by facilitating the expectoration of mucus by breaking down acid mucopolysaccharide fibers (sugar molecules responsible for mucus production) and stimulates surfactant (an anti-glue agent) that prevents adhesion of mucus to the bronchial wall thus preventing its accumulation and providing clearance in the airway due to acute and chronic respiratory diseases in affected individuals.

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Nausea and vomiting:
Try to take AMBROQUTE DROPS with or just after a meal or a snack. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating rich or spicy food. Consult your doctor if the symptom gets worse.
Diarrhea:
Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated. Try to avoid taking any medicine on your own to treat diarrhea. Consult your doctor and inform them if the symptom gets worse.
Indigestion:
Try to have smaller and more frequent meals and drink slowly. Reduce your consumption of coffee, cola, tea, or alcohol and lose weight if you are obese. Try to avoid smoking and don’t have rich, fatty or spicy foods. Consult your doctor and inform them if the symptom does not improve.
Dry mouth:
Try to drink plenty of cold water, sip on unsweetened drinks, and use lip balm if your lips are dry. Brush your teeth twice a day and use mouthwash. Consult and inform your doctor if the symptom gets worse.
WARNING & PRECAUTIONS
PREGNANCY
AMBROQUTE DROPS is generally not recommended for use in pregnant women, especially during the first 3 months of pregnancy). Consult and inform your doctor before taking the medicine.
BREASTFEEDING
AMBROQUTE DROPS is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may get excreted in breast milk. Consult and inform your doctor before taking the medicine.
DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
Do not drive or operate the machine if AMBROQUTE DROPS affects your ability to drive/operate machines. Consult and inform your doctor before taking the medicine.
KIDNEY
AMBROQUTE DROPS should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems. Consult and inform your doctor before taking the medicine.
LIVER
AMBROQUTE DROPS should be used with caution in patients with liver problems. Consult and inform your doctor before taking the medicine.
ALLERGY
Do not take AMBROQUTE DROPS if you are allergic to ambroxol hydrochloride, and/or any other ingredients of this medicine.
LUNGS
AMBROQUTE DROPS should be used with caution in patients suffering from asthma, and/or serious asthmatic attacks. Consult and inform your doctor before taking the medicine.
OTHERS
Before taking AMBROQUTE DROPS, consult and inform your doctor if you:
Have a cough for a long time
Have peptic/duodenal ulcers
Have hereditary fructose intolerance (inability of the body to break down fructose)
Use in Pediatrics:
AMBROQUTE DROPS should be used with caution in children (above 1 year) and adolescents (below 18 years). It should be used only if necessary in children (aged below 12 years). Consult and inform your doctor before taking the medicine.
Use in Geriatrics:
AMBROQUTE DROPS should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged above 65 years). Consult and inform your doctor before taking the medicine.
INTERACTIONS

Antitussives (medicines used to suppress cough) Ex. codeine
Antibiotics (medicines used to treat bacterial infections) Ex. amoxicillin, cefuroxime, erythromycin
