INTRODUCTION

PREGADOC SR contains Pregabalin which belongs to the group of medicines called Anticonvulsants. It is used in adults to treat neuropathic pain, certain forms of epilepsy and anxiety disorders. Neuropathic pain (also known as nerve pain) is a long-lasting pain caused due to damaged nerve fibres present in the body. It is characterized by hot, burning, sharp, shooting, throbbing, or stabbing pain sensations with tingling or numbness of body parts. It may also cause mood changes, sleep disturbances and tiredness when nerve fibres supplying the brain are damaged.

PREGADOC SR can be used to treat certain forms of epilepsy (fits or seizures) when used in combination with other anti-epileptic medicines. It may also be effective in treating generalized anxiety disorders (severe anxiety that affects daily activities) when other medicines are not effective.

Pregabalin controls seizures (fits) by reducing the abnormal activity of the nerve cells in the brain. It also reduces pain sensations by blocking the transmission of pain signals across the nervous system. It relieves anxiety by reducing the release of certain brain chemicals that causes abnormal mood stimulation and anxiety.

Before taking PREGADOC SR inform your doctor if you have or had any lung, liver, kidney, or heart problems. You must also inform your doctor before taking PREGADOC SR if you have diabetes, any other nerve or brain disorders or if you have a history of drug abuse.

Avoid consuming alcohol while taking PREGADOC SR as it may make you feel dizzier which can eventually lead to an increased risk of injuries, falls or accidents. Do not take PREGADOC SR if you are pregnant or breastfeeding without consulting your doctor. Women of childbearing age must use a suitable contraceptive method to avoid pregnancy while undergoing therapy with PREGADOC SR.

PREGADOC SR should be used with extreme caution in elderly patients (aged above 65 years) particularly in those who have kidney problems. PREGADOC SR may alter your blood sugar levels, therefore regularly check your blood sugar levels as a precaution. It may also cause weight gain in patients, particularly in those who are diabetic. If it bothers you, consult your doctor for advice.

Other most common side effects of taking PREGADOC SR are dizziness, drowsiness, headache, dry mouth, blurred vision and swelling of body parts. Contact your doctor if any of these side effects worsen. Also, inform your doctor immediately if you experience extreme sadness with the thought of harming or killing yourself (suicidal thoughts).
