INTRODUCTION

ERBINOX TABLET contains Terbinafine which belongs to the group of medicines called Antifungal agents. It is used to treat fungal infections of the skin, hair and nails.

Take ERBINOX TABLET for the stipulated duration as instructed by your doctor to achieve better results. Failing to do so may not result in adequate infection control.

Before taking ERBINOX TABLET inform your doctor if you have any liver or kidney problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have psoriasis, skin rashes or any other autoimmune skin conditions (such as systemic lupus erythematosus) as a precaution.

Do not take ERBINOX TABLET without consulting your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. The most common side effects of taking ERBINOX TABLET are headache, nausea, loss of appetite, stomach pain, muscle pain, joint pain and taste disturbances. Consult your doctor if any of these side effect worsens.

HOW ERBINOX TABLET WORKS

ERBINOX TABLET is an antifungal medication. It effectively controls fungal infections within the body. It disrupts the fungal cell membrane by blocking the production of certain chemicals (ergosterol) within the cell which is required for its survival. As a result, it stops the fungal cell from multiplication, thereby preventing the further spread of infection.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Take ERBINOX TABLET as directed by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.

Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Do not stop taking ERBINOX TABLET without consulting your doctor.

Signs of liver problems (such as unexplained persistent nausea, stomach problems, loss of appetite, unusual tiredness or weakness with yellowing of your skin or eyes, dark urine and pale faeces)
Inflammation of blood vessels causing purple spots under the skin
Severe skin reactions with swelling, blistering and peeling of the skin, increased skin sensitivity towards light
Inflammation of the pancreas causing severe stomach pain which radiates towards the back side
Signs of allergic reactions (such as skin rash, itching, fever, swelling of face and throat, flushing, difficulty in breathing, dizziness, enlarged lymph nodes)
Signs of muscle breakdown (such as unexplained muscle weakness and dark or red urine)
Signs of low blood count (such as weakness, unusual bleeding, bruising, abnormal pale skin, unusual tiredness, or weakness or breathlessness on exertion or frequent infections)
HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Nausea or vomiting:

Try to take ERBINOX TABLET with or just after meals. Stick to simple meals and avoid oil rich or spicy foods. Consult your doctor if nausea worsens.

Headache:  

Rest and relax. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes. Applying a pain-relieving balm on your forehead can be beneficial. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could aggravate your headache. Consult your doctor if your headache worsens.

Dizziness:

Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any tools or machines completely while you are feeling dizzy. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could aggravate your dizziness. Consult your doctor if your dizziness worsens.

PREGNANCY

Consult your doctor before taking ERBINOX TABLET if you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant.

BREASTFEEDING

ERBINOX TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

Do not drive or operate any machines if you experience dizziness after taking ERBINOX TABLET.

KIDNEY

ERBINOX TABLET should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

LIVER

ERBINOX TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with an active or a previous history of liver problems. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

ALLERGY

Do not take ERBINOX TABLET if you are allergic to Terbinafine.

OTHERS

Before taking ERBINOX TABLET, inform your doctor if you:

Have psoriasis (scaly white patches on the skin)
Have systemic lupus erythematosus (a serious skin condition)
Have skin rashes or any other auto-immune skin condition

Use in paediatrics:

ERBINOX TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years). Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

Oral contraceptives (birth control pills) such as ethinylestradiol
Warfarin (a medicine used for blood thinning)
Ciclosporin (a medicine used to prevent graft rejection)
Caffeine (a brain stimulant)
Medicines used to treat depression (such as imipramine, nortriptyline, amitriptyline, fluoxetine, paroxetine)
Medicines used to treat heart problems (such as atenolol propranolol, amiodarone, propafenone, digoxin, quinidine)
Other medicines used to treat fungal infections (such as ketoconazole, fluconazole)
Medicines used to treat cough (such as dexamethasone)

If you or anyone else accidentally took more ERBINOX TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
