INTRODUCTION

CHESTON D PLUS TABLET is a combination of Chlorpheniramine, Dextromethorphan, and Phenylephrine, which belong to the group of medicines called Antihistamines, Antitussives, and Decongestants, respectively. It is used to relieve a dry cough, throat irritation, sneezing, watery eyes, and stuffy nose due to an allergy or common cold.

The common cold is a viral infection of the nose or throat that can cause symptoms like a blocked or runny nose, sore throat, headaches, muscle aches, coughs, sneezing, fever, pressure in your ears and face, and loss of taste and smell.

CHESTON D PLUS TABLET should be generally avoided or used with caution in children (aged less than 2 years). Before taking CHESTON D PLUS TABLET, inform your doctor if you have any heart, kidney, liver, or thyroid problems; diabetes; fits; glaucoma; gastrointestinal or genitourinary obstruction; or severely raised blood pressure. CHESTON D PLUS TABLET should be used by pregnant and breastfeeding women only if specifically directed by your doctor.

The most common side effects of taking CHESTON D PLUS TABLET are dizziness, light-headedness, drowsiness, nervousness, restlessness, nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain. Contact your doctor if any of the above side effects worsen.

USES OF CHESTON D PLUS TABLET
Relieves dry cough, throat irritation, sneezing, watery eyes & stuffy nose due to an allergy or common cold
HOW CHESTON D PLUS TABLET WORKS

CHESTON D PLUS TABLET relieves symptoms of allergy and the common cold, where chlorpheniramine binds to the histamine H1 receptor and blocks its action, resulting in temporary relief of the negative symptoms (runny nose, sneezing, watery eyes and itchy eyes) brought on by histamine. Dextromethorphan suppresses the non-productive cough associated with a cold by suppressing the cough reflex by directly acting on the cough center in the brain. Phenylephrine decreases nasal congestion by acting on α1-adrenergic receptors in the small vessels of the nasal mucosa to produce constriction, resulting in decreased swelling and increased drainage of the sinus cavities.
