INTRODUCTION
AQSUSTEN 25MG INJECTION contains Progesterone which belongs to the group of medicines called Steroid hormones. It is used for the maintenance of early pregnancy in patients who faced documented history of repeated miscarriages due to luteal phase defect (a problem in menstrual cycle caused due to deficiency of progesterone during the midway of the menstrual cycle).
It can also be used as an adjuvant to infertility techniques (such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) or gamete intra-fallopian transfer (GIFT)) to facilitate successful implantation of the fertilized egg in the uterus. It is also used to prevent threatened abortions and to treat abnormal uterine bleeding caused due to hormonal imbalance.
It can be used as a diagnostic tool in progesterone withdrawal testing to diagnose the endocrinal causes of secondary amenorrhea (irregular or lack of menstrual periods) and to judge the chances of pregnancy among infertile women.
Before receiving AQSUSTEN 25MG INJECTION inform your doctor if you have any liver, kidney, or heart problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, epilepsy, or migraine headaches before receiving AQSUSTEN 25MG INJECTION as a precaution.
AQSUSTEN 25MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in patients with breast cancer, ovarian cancer, uterine cancer, blood clot problems or any vaginal infections. AQSUSTEN 25MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in breast-feeding women and in children and adolescents (below 18 years of age).
AQSUSTEN 25MG INJECTION can be used during the first three months of pregnancy. However, it should not be used in women who have ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy outside the womb) and in women who had a history of idiopathic jaundice (severe itching of the skin) or other skin problems during their earlier pregnancies.
The most common side effects of receiving AQSUSTEN 25MG INJECTION are pain, redness, itching, irritation or swelling at the injection site, vaginal bleeding, headache, bloating, nausea, hair loss, abnormal hair growth in the body, darkening of the facial skin or difficulty in sleeping. Consult your doctor if any of these side effect bothers you. Talk to your doctor immediately if you experience any changes in body weight or feel depressed while receiving AQSUSTEN 25MG INJECTION.
